NEW: Barefoot launches Refresh Spritzers in cans

Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, a brand of E.J. Gallo Winery, Modesto, Calif., announced the national launch of Barefoot Refresh Spritzers in convenient, portable cans. The canned wines let people take wine many places where it couldn’t go before, the company says.

“This is such an exciting moment for us here at Barefoot, and also for wine fans across the country,” said Jen Wall, winemaker for Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, in a statement. “It’s all about making Barefoot convenient. We took this ‘step’ to give folks summer in a can at any time of year and to take away some of the barriers for enjoying wine when and where people want.”

The 8.4-ounce slim cans can go many places where wine bottles and glass aren’t always welcome. The cans easily pack into coolers and ice chests, and are ideal for poolside, the beach, barbecues and more, the company says.

Barefoot Refresh Spritzers, made in the classic spritzer style, are a refreshing wine-based beverage with a signature spritz. Available in Crisp White and Summer Red, Refresh Spritzers can be served over ice, mixed in a cocktail or straight from a chilled can, it adds.

“One of our missions at Barefoot is to make the everyday more fun and to make life, and wine, less serious,” Wall said. “I genuinely believe people around the country will love our Refresh Spritzers in cans and they’ll love all the places they can take them.”

The new canned sparkling wines have a suggested retail price of $8.99 for a four-pack or $2.49 for singles, and now are available nationwide.

Binny’s – building business from the ground up

Binny’s Beverage Depot expects to begin construction of a new store in Mokena, Illinois this summer, with opening expected in late autumn. The 15,000-square-foot store will be the chain’s 32nd location, and will mark the first time the Chicago-based retailer has built a store from the ground up.

Like other Binny’s locations, the site—at 21410 Wolf Road—will feature a temperature-controlled wine cellar, a walk-in humidor, a rare spirits room and a beer cooler comprised of more than 20 doors. The new store is expected to stock upwards of 8,000 wine, beer, distilled spirits, cigar and accessories SKUs. With annual sales revenue of some $330 million, Binny’s operates stores in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, as well as Bloomington and Champaign in downstate Illinois.

Giuliana Rancic Launches New, Innovative Wine Brand: XO, G

Giuliana Rancic  launches her own wine brand, XO, G Wine, which will be available in approximately 1,200 Walmart stores starting November 2014. Packaged in an innovative bottle designed for by-the-glass consumption, XO, G will be offered in three delicious varietals: a South of France Rose, Italian Pinot Grigio and French Pinot Noir. Additionally, a mixed pack will be available just in time for the holidays, featuring two glasses of Pinot Grigio and two glasses of Pinot Noir in a single bottle.

The idea for XO, G was conceived in October 2013, when Rancic discovered an innovative wine package called StackTek, which consists of four prefilled, individually sealed, shatterproof, stemless wine glasses that snap together to form a perfect equivalent of a 750mL bottle. As a follower of the latest trends in wine, Rancic shared her discovery on various social media channels and was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response by her fans.

“After seeing the massive reaction and organic interaction with my fans from just a simple photo of me opening up a StackTek bottle, I couldn’t wait to get on the phone with the team at Stack to explore opportunities to bring this convenient package to women everywhere,” Rancic explains.xog-pinot-singles

Rancic developed her multi-country wine brand, XO, G to be an extension of her persona, with a stylish design that looks like a personal gift from Rancic to her fans, and imported wines from her favorite global appellations. The name derives from her signature sendoff, “XO, G,” which she regularly uses in her social media posts. The clear outer sleeve of the packaging is decorated in stylish white and silver Xs and Os, while a vibrant ribbon illustration wraps around the neck, adding a fun pop of color.

Pulling from her own wine preferences, Rancic selected a collection of premium wines, including a deliciously light and dry Rose and a silky medium-bodied Pinot Noir, both from the South of France, as well as a crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio from her home country of Italy.

Making the wine accessible to women who appreciate style, quality and convenience was always Rancic’s goal. “I wanted to offer quality wines to consumers at an affordable price,” explains Rancic. “Having my wines available at Walmart, and for less than $10, is the ideal opportunity to bring XO, G to women throughout the US.”
