A pioneer in creating innovative blends that push the envelope of what is expected from a wine, Apothic takes its fans on a new journey to experience wine in a whole new way. By combining years of wine-making knowledge and expertise with innovative techniques inspired by the time-honored craft of whiskey-making, Apothic is bringing a masterful and unexpected taste experience to wine and whiskey fans alike with its new, small-batch, limited release red blend, Apothic Inferno.

Aged in charred, white oak whiskey barrels for 60 days, Apothic Inferno blends the red and dark fruit flavors of its wine with layers of maple and spice, giving way to a long, clean finish. “The result is a wine with rich flavor and distinctive attitude,” says Apothic Winemaker, Debbie Juergenson. “It may not have whiskey in it, but it’s wine with a whiskey soul.”

Crafted in California, each batch of Apothic Inferno undergoes a time-intensive, barrel-aging process. The unique character and flavor profiles offer wine enthusiasts the opportunity to discover a bold, new experience. The barrels – cut, shaped, and bound by steel before being charred with flames – were first used to age whiskey for years prior to becoming the home of Apothic’s new red blend.

“Those who have come to love Apothic know that we’re always looking to defy convention with unique blends and bold flavors,” said Christine Jagher, Marketing Director for Apothic Wines. “Apothic Inferno brings a rebellious attitude to the wine category – even the label’s dark colors and intertwined graphics elicit a fiery style, the perfect addition to our portfolio.”

Apothic Inferno is available on shelves wherever wine is sold, nationwide, for a limited time with a suggested retail price of $16.99. The wine has an ABV of 15.9% and is offered in 750ml bottles.

With a commitment honoring those behind the brand and their unwavering passion for longstanding traditions, Jameson Irish Whiskey releases Jameson The Cooper’s Croze. A super-premium whiskey, Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is part of The Whiskey Makers Series, a range of three whiskeys, each highlighting a specific part of the whiskey making process.

Curated by Ger Buckley, Jameson fifth generation Head Cooper, Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is designed to showcase the varying characteristics imparted by the barrels – and by extension, the important role played by the cooper in the whiskey making process. With highly specialized knowledge passed down from his ancestors, Ger is tasked with selecting, repairing and maintaining the Midleton Distillery’s diverse and treasured barrels. The whiskey’s namesake – the croze – is Ger’s most prized possession. A tool used to make the groove where the head of the barrel is positioned in order to seal the barrel, it symbolizes the important role played by each barrel.

“I’ve created Jameson The Cooper’s Croze to show the versatility and profound influence barrels have on distinct whiskey flavors,” said Ger Buckley, Head Cooper for Jameson Irish Whiskey. “Barrel making transcends generations, as I’ve used the same methods and tools passed down from my grandfather, that’s the beauty of the craft.”

Using virgin American oak, seasoned bourbon and Iberian sherry barrels, Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is a perfect illustration of oak’s influence on a whiskey’s character. This non-chill filtered whiskey effortlessly carries the charred virgin oak character with vanilla sweetness from the seasoned bourbon barrels with rich fruit flavors and a fine balance of floral and spice notes.

“Jameson The Cooper’s Croze embodies our unwavering dedication to upholding the craft and heritage passed down from generation to generation at the Midleton Distillery,” said Sona Bajaria, Vice President, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Pernod Ricard USA. “This is an exciting time for Jameson Irish Whiskey, as we look to celebrate the man behind the barrel, with respect to his dedication and passion shown throughout his unique craft.”

Jameson The Cooper’s Croze will be available at participating retailers at a suggested retail price of $69.99.

NEW: Koval Barreled Gin

KOVAL Distillery is excited to announce the release of a new organic Barreled Gin. A follow-up to the much celebrated release of KOVAL Dry Gin (recognized as 2015’s most highly awarded American gin), KOVAL Barreled Gin follows the same prized recipe with the addition of spiced oak flavors that come from barrel aging.

Fans of KOVAL Dry Gin will taste a similarly crisp spirit with flavors from rose hip, juniper, angelica root, and coriander, but will appreciate a new level of depth and oak from the spirit’s time resting in a KOVAL whiskey barrel. The attention to detail that KOVAL’s grain-to-bottle process allows shines through in the final product, offering a unique spirit that appeals to gin and whiskey drinkers alike.

The artisanship of KOVAL’s process and the complexity of the Barreled Gin are reflected in the new label, thoughtfully designed with intricate argyle die-cutting and bronze foil patterns by award-winning brand identity firm Dando Projects–the same team recognized with a Double Gold Medal for KOVAL Dry Gin at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and “Best in Show” at the 2015 Los Angeles International Spirits Competition, among numerous other international design awards.

“We wanted the label to maintain the same level of sophistication as the Dry Gin, but with a fresh design and slight color change that reflects the barrel aging process,” said Dr. Sonat Birnecker Hart, President of KOVAL Distillery.

KOVAL Barreled Gin will be immediately available in Illinois and expanding into select national and international markets.

Jameson Crested

Jameson Crested Irish whiskey is a no-age-statement blend of pot still and grain whiskeys.

Jameson, the number one Irish whiskey, has unveiled a new premium Irish whiskey, Jameson Crested. Newly launched in the UK, Jameson Crested brings to life the rich history of the brand and its spiritual home of Dublin, and is set to further increase excitement around Irish whiskey in the UK.

Jameson Crested is a celebration of the first drops of whiskey that were bottled, sealed and labelled at the Bow Street Distillery in Dublin, marking the moment in time (1963) when Jameson took full control of the whiskey making process, from grain to glass. Up until then, distillers – including the Jameson Distillery – sold barrels of whiskey to bonders to bottle themselves before selling on to Irish whiskey consumers.

However, reports of a handful of whiskey bonders watering down their whiskey in the 1960s led Jameson to complete the craftsmanship process inside the distillery walls to protect the quality of the whiskey.

Available from March 2016 across the grocery and impulse channels, Jameson Crested is a triple-distilled Irish whiskey that brings together rich pot still Irish whiskey and grain whiskey, matured in a high proportion of sherry casks, as well as Bourbon barrels. The result is a nose of vivid sherry and pot still aromas, a palate of toasted wood, spice and chocolate, and a warm, lingering sherry finish. The RRP is £29.99 (70cl bottle, 40% ABV).

Vicky Hoey, Head of Marketing at Pernod Ricard UK, comments: “We are very excited about launching Jameson Crested into the dynamic UK Irish whiskey market as the feedback that we receive from consumers is that they want to increase their knowledge about the heritage of the category in an authentic, personal and meaningful way. Jameson Crested offers discerning drinkers and existing brand fans a completely new taste experience from the number one Irish whiskey, whilst retaining the recognisable smoothness that is distinctly Jameson.”

Jameson Crested is presented in a new, craft design that reflects the story behind the brand. The new design showcases the product quality; the bottle’s elegant, tapered neck is left uncovered so that the cork can be clearly seen and is complemented by an authentic seal, which gently tears when opened for the first time. The new bottle design is used across the family of Jameson premium whiskeys that celebrates the rich heritage of Jameson, including Jameson Black Barrel.

Jameson Crested can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks or with the gradual addition of water to release its complex flavours. Alternatively, the Jameson Crested & Soda long drink can be mixed in a high ball glass and built over ice using 50ml Jameson Crested Irish Whiskey, a quality bottled soda and a large wedge of orange.
