JACK DANIEL’S LAUNCHES WHISKEY-INFUSED COFFEE

jdcoffeeThe coffee, made with ground Arabica infused with Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, promises to deliver the signature Jack Daniel’s whiskey flavor minus the alcohol.

Available in caffeinated and decaffeinated variants in both tins and packets, the coffee has gone on sale in the whiskey’s hometown of Lynchburg and online.

The coffee is due to be rolled out across the US this year, priced at $21.95 for an 8.8-ounce tin and $6.95 for a 1.5-ounce bag.

“We take a lot of care and pride in the products we craft and Jack Daniel’s Coffee is no exception,” said Charlie Newman, owner and roast master at World of Coffee.

This isn’t the first whiskey-infused coffee to hit the shelves. Last April Bulleit Bourbon released a limited edition Bourbon-infused coffee in partnership with London coffee house The Gentleman Baristas.

X Bulleit coffee was crafted from beans rested for two weeks in ex-Bourbon casks to allow the spicy notes of the whiskey to blend with the beans’ natural character. Two blends of the Bourbon barrel-aged coffee were created – espresso and filter.

NOTE: So we went to the website only to find both regular and decaf are on backorder.

With a commitment honoring those behind the brand and their unwavering passion for longstanding traditions, Jameson Irish Whiskey releases Jameson The Cooper’s Croze. A super-premium whiskey, Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is part of The Whiskey Makers Series, a range of three whiskeys, each highlighting a specific part of the whiskey making process.

Curated by Ger Buckley, Jameson fifth generation Head Cooper, Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is designed to showcase the varying characteristics imparted by the barrels – and by extension, the important role played by the cooper in the whiskey making process. With highly specialized knowledge passed down from his ancestors, Ger is tasked with selecting, repairing and maintaining the Midleton Distillery’s diverse and treasured barrels. The whiskey’s namesake – the croze – is Ger’s most prized possession. A tool used to make the groove where the head of the barrel is positioned in order to seal the barrel, it symbolizes the important role played by each barrel.

“I’ve created Jameson The Cooper’s Croze to show the versatility and profound influence barrels have on distinct whiskey flavors,” said Ger Buckley, Head Cooper for Jameson Irish Whiskey. “Barrel making transcends generations, as I’ve used the same methods and tools passed down from my grandfather, that’s the beauty of the craft.”

Using virgin American oak, seasoned bourbon and Iberian sherry barrels, Jameson The Cooper’s Croze is a perfect illustration of oak’s influence on a whiskey’s character. This non-chill filtered whiskey effortlessly carries the charred virgin oak character with vanilla sweetness from the seasoned bourbon barrels with rich fruit flavors and a fine balance of floral and spice notes.

“Jameson The Cooper’s Croze embodies our unwavering dedication to upholding the craft and heritage passed down from generation to generation at the Midleton Distillery,” said Sona Bajaria, Vice President, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Pernod Ricard USA. “This is an exciting time for Jameson Irish Whiskey, as we look to celebrate the man behind the barrel, with respect to his dedication and passion shown throughout his unique craft.”

Jameson The Cooper’s Croze will be available at participating retailers at a suggested retail price of $69.99.

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Collection is debuting its Personal Collection program this summer. An evolution of the By the Barrel program, Jack Daniel’s enthusiasts from around the world are able to purchase their own customized selection of whiskey via a hand selected barrel of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select.

What was once a privilege reserved only for Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Jeff Arnett is now available to connoisseurs around the world who will be able to explore Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel themselves. Only the barrels from the top of the Jack Daniel’s warehouse will be set aside for the Personal Collection program as those are exposed to the most extreme temperatures, creating the most flavor and color within the whiskey. Each barrel has its own personality and characteristics from being exposed to those extreme temperatures that create subtle differences barrel to barrel, a signature of the Single Barrel collection.

Barrels will be available to purchase through the Personal Collection program beginning in July. Barrels generally start around $10,000 USD plus varying local taxes. The new program will offer a more special and personalized experience for buyers. First, buyers will now have several different ways to make their barrel selections, making the program even more accessible. Participants can have the barrel selected for them by the Master Distiller, receive samples based on flavor profiles, or they can travel to the distillery in Lynchburg and select their barrel with the help of Master Distiller or his team of Master Tasters. Jack Daniel’s has also created premium collectibles and experiences to be enjoyed with every Personal Collection selection including a custom barrel head and framed barrel certificate as well as a unique purchase certificate, luxury decanter and glassware. In addition, purchasers will also receive a personalized Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel bottle with their name or special message. Participants will be commemorated with their name in the Barrel Recognition Room in Lynchburg, TN – an exhibit honoring past barrel purchasers and new buyers, and a part of the tour that nearly 400,000 people take every year. Lastly, the new program will offer a series of touch points to keep customers updated on their selection as well as a Barrel Concierge who will be dedicated to each buyers Personal Collection experience.

“The Personal Collection program represents the best of the best from Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel and is a unique opportunity for whiskey enthusiasts to take part in what we do at Jack Daniel’s,” says Arnett. “I couldn’t think of a more perfect way for people to discover the nuances of our Tennessee Whiskey then by bringing them into the process and having them own a personal piece of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel.”

By the Barrel was originally launched in 1998, following the introduction of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, the first iteration of the craft whiskey family. Jack Daniel’s has continued to expand on its crafted Single Barrel offerings, releasing Single Barrel Barrel Proof in 2015 and, most recently, Single Barrel Rye in February 2016.
