The range, new for 2016, includes: Buffalo Trace Reposado, aged 10 and a half months in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels; Old Rip Van Winkle Añejo, aged for 23 months in Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon barrels; and Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Añejo, aged for 19 months in Thomas H. Handy Sazerac whiskey barrels – the most limited in the collection.

Expresiones del Corazón 2016 also includes Artisanal Blanco, which was held for 60 days in stainless steel. The Artisanal Blanco was used as the base for the other Tequilas in the range.

“The combination of the Artisanal Blanco with these flavourful barrels from Buffalo Trace Distillery has resulted in three one-of-a-kind Tequilas, including this year’s addition of Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Añejo, which we’re thrilled to share,” said Megan Hurtuk, marketing manager for Tequila at Sazerac.

Corazón Tequila is produced at the Casa San Matías Distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, using only blue agave.

Expresiones del Corazón, all of which carry an abv of 40% (80 proof), will be available in very limited quantities across the US for between $59.99 and $79.99, depending on the expression.

Dulce Vida Spirits Expands Lineup of Craft Tequilas

Dulce Vida Tequilas, recently acquired by newly formed alcohol beverage investor, Milestone Brands LLC, announces the introduction of 70-proof Dulce Vida Lime Tequila and Dulce Vida Grapefruit Tequila. Delivering outstanding quality for the price, Dulce Vida also adds an 80-proof portfolio (Blanco, Reposado and Añejo) to its existing lineup of 100 percent blue agave, organic, Los Altos tequila.

Like all Dulce Vida Spirits, Dulce Vida Lime and Dulce Vida Grapefruit hail from the Los Altos region of Jalisco in Mexico and are handcrafted from 100 percent blue agave. Infused with real fruit, Lime and Grapefruit are low-carb, low-calorie and simplify mixology for an easy Margarita or Paloma.

“Dulce Vida has seen amazing growth since our acquisition, and we’re thrilled with the launch of these naturally infused flavors,” said Eric Dopkins, Founder and CEO of Milestone Brands LLC. “These cocktail ready, category disruptors continue our standards in providing healthier cocktail solutions and handcrafted products.”

In addition to Dulce Vida’s award-winning 100-proof tequilas, the new 80-proof variants and 70-proof flavors create an impressive portfolio. Bottled immediately after distillation, Dulce Vida Blanco is the most vibrant with notes of citrus with a sweet agave finish. Aged from 9 to 11 months in American Oak whisky barrels, Reposado is the most versatile, with refreshing aromas of fruit and caramel and a mild, sweet finish. The full-bodied Añejo, aged up to 24 months in select American Oak whisky barrels, features aromas of vanilla and cinnamon.

NEW: Olmeca Altos Añejo

Olmeca Altos Anejo

This spring, Olmeca Altos welcomes its latest product, Añejo – thereby completing the power of three for the Altos Tequila family. With the same well-balanced and rounded aroma that the Olmeca Altos distillery is known for, Añejo is aged for eighteen months in oak barrels and has woody notes and vanilla and chocolate flavors that is enhanced by the sweet, cooked agave taste and notes of dried fruit and almonds.

Building on Altos’ success with Plata and Reposado, Añejo will provide an even greater presence for the brand just in time for spring and summertime sipping in limited markets across the country. The three options in the portfolio, now available, continue to encompass the mixable 100% blue agave tequila that drinkers love.

Altos was initially created by bartenders for bartenders through a partnership with UK’s most prominent mixologists Henry Besant and Dre Masso, alongside Master Distiller, Jesús Hernández, who understood the need for a superior-quality product at affordable prices. Staying true to its brand ethos, Añejo was also developed by Hernández, in collaboration with internationally-known US bartender Charles Joly and UK Altos Brand Ambassador Matthias Lataille. Together they created a new premium addition to the Altos family that sets it apart from other spirits in the category due to its distinguishable flavor and accessible price. Created 7,000 feet above sea level in the volcanic red earth in the highlands of Los Altos, Jalisco, Añejo is crafted in the same artisanal production methods as its predecessors – Altos Reposado and Altos Blanco. Handpicked at peak ripeness, the blue agave is slow cooked at low temperatures and then is extracted, in part, with the 500-year old Tahona method in which a volcanic millstone rolls over the cooked agave to crush the pinas to expose the juice and fiber of the plant. The extracted juice and fiber are added to the fermentation and distillation process to deliver the rich, sweet taste and citric aroma.

“As tequila continues to grow steadily in the US, Añejo is a long-awaited and exciting addition to the Altos family,” said Clare Kanter, Vice President, White Spirits & Export, Pernod Ricard USA. “It is crafted with the same traditional techniques revered by Altos drinkers, while enhancing the flavor range for an original and complex taste. We are proud to work with a team that strives to create a superior-quality product and continues to set new standards within the tequila category.”

“I’m very excited for the launch of Añejo, as I have used Plata and Reposado at my bars for many years and believe the launch rounds out the Altos family perfectly,” said Charles Joly, bartender and mixologist. “I’ve had the pleasure of spending a great deal of time at the distillery where Altos is expertly crafted and visited their agave fields so I am confident drinkers will enjoy Altos Añejo in cocktails or when sipped neat.”

Altos Añejo is available on-premise in select markets including California, Colorado, Illinois, Florida, New York and Texas at a suggested price of $34.99 for 750 mL.

Patrón Spirits introduces a new addition to the successful Patrón Citrónge liqueur portfolio. Patrón Citrónge Mango, available starting in June 2015, is crafted from the highest-quality Ataulfo mangos from the Mexican states of Nayarit and Chiapas.

“Not only is Mexico known for tequila, the country has long been one of the world’s largest producers of top-quality fruits and citrus. Maybe it’s no coincidence then that fresh fruit flavors are the perfect complement in margaritas and countless other tequila cocktails,” said Ed Brown, President and CEO of Patrón Spirits. “All three of our Patrón Citrónge liqueurs – Orange, Lime, and now Mango – not only are ideal ingredients in any number of delicious cocktails and food recipes, they also proudly showcase authentic Mexican flavor and heritage.”

Increasingly popular in cuisine and cocktails, the Ataulfo mango used to create Patrón Citrónge Mango is characterized by its oblong shape, bright yellow skin, nonfibrous flesh, and rich, sweet flavor. The refreshing mango taste is smooth and sweet with light citrus notes and a hint of pineapple and peach. Patrón Citrónge Mango Liqueur is crystal clear with a natural, sweet aroma. It’s excellent mixed into any number of cocktails,or as a delicious addition to sauces and desserts.

The cork-finished frosted bottle, available in 375ml, 750ml and 1 liter sizes, was designed to align with the Patrón Citrónge Orange and Patrón Citrónge Lime liqueur bottles. The package communicates Patrón’s upscale, ultra-premium position, and the extended neck on the bottle makes it simple and easy to pour.

Every step in producing Patrón tequila – from harvesting the highest-quality 100 percent Weber Blue Agave, to the traditional, time-honored distillation process and individual labeling, numbering, and inspection of each bottle – is done with the careful precision and care that can only be accomplished by hand. Though Patrón has grown to become one of the most-recognized and respected luxury spirits brands in the world, it is still exclusively produced in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico in the same small batches and with the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
