Crown Royal is adding a delicious offering to its family of whiskies with the introduction of Crown Royal Vanilla Flavored Whisky, a blend of hand selected Crown Royal whiskies infused with the rich flavor of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla. The result is a unique whisky bursting with the flavor of vanilla and the distinctive smoothness of Crown Royal.
A drink for all seasons, Crown Royal Vanilla can be enjoyed on the rocks, as a chilled shot, mixed with a variety of sodas for a Vanilla-forward take on hard sodas or as the key ingredient in unique twists on classic cocktails like the Vanilla Old Fashioned or Vanilla Hot Toddy.
Crown Royal Vanilla Flavored Whisky begins with a nose of rich vanilla bean with delicate hints of oak. The taste opens with a delicious, creamy vanilla flavor followed by a smooth, light whisky finish. The mouthfeel is viscous and warm, and the aftertaste is reminiscent of crème brulee.
“Vanilla is such a classic flavor that people around the world crave,” said Jim Ruane, Crown Royal Brand Director. “Infusing our Crown Royal whiskies with the flavor of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla allows us to highlight the vanilla notes found in many whiskies, including Crown Royal Deluxe, and share a delicious new offering with consumers.”
Crown Royal Vanilla is enclosed in the signature box and felt bag that Crown Royal consumers have grown to know and love. The packaging incorporates tan and cream hues with imagery of vanilla leaves on the bottle’s label. Crown Royal Vanilla (70 proof, 35% ABV) will be sold at a suggested retail price of $24.99 for a 750 ml bottle and is currently available nationwide.
As a brand deep rooted in heritage and quality, Crown Royal is proud to introduce its first-ever blended rye whisky, Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye. This offering combines the richness of Northern harvest rye grains with the unmistakable smoothness of Crown Royal to create a perfectly balanced whisky.
“With rye whiskies serving as integral components of the Crown Royal Deluxe blend for more than 75 years, it was a natural and authentic extension to provide our loyal fans a rye offering,” said Yvonne Briese, Vice President of Marketing, Diageo North American Whiskey. “There is also a tremendous growth opportunity within the rye category as consumers gravitate toward quality products they know and trust while experimenting with pre-Prohibition era cocktails.”
The distinct Canadian climate provides the ideal conditions for growing rye grains. This is due to the fact the grains are planted in the fall, then blanketed with snow during the harsh winter months and only finish their growth cycle once they have sprouted throughout spring and summer. The extra time the grains take to fully mature results in flavorful hints of fruit, cloves and spice.
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye provides consumers with a very smooth and spicy flavor profile that can be mixed into traditional rye cocktails, such as the Manhattan or Old Fashioned. Available at 90 proof / 45% Alcohol by Volume, Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye will be sold at a suggested retail price of $29.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
While around 50 different barrels are used to create Crown Royal Canadian whiskey, the coffey rye barrel was selected for the brand’s first foray into the single barrel category.
Diageo claims that coffey rye is Crown Royal’s “most notable” whiskey component and “honors the long-standing tradition of referring to local Canadian whiskies simply as ‘rye’”.
The expression, which will be available as a single barrel exclusively in Texas, US, has been distilled in the brand’s coffey rye still, said to be the only known still of its kind in North America.
“As a genuine passion for Crown Royal, and for whiskey as a whole, continues to soar in Texas, we wanted to provide a special offering exclusively for these loyal consumers featuring the heart of Crown Royal, the historic coffey rye,” said Yvonne Briese, vice president marketing for Diageo North American Whiskey.
Retailers in the state can purchase entire barrels of the whiskey, while each bottle produced from the barrel will feature a personalized medallion stating the retail location.
Crown Royal Single Barrel, bottled at 51.1% abv and with a retail price of$55, is described as having a flavor of cream and banana, combined with oak and spice notes.
