The popular Bud Light Lime-A-Rita franchise continues its expansion by introducing Lemon-Ade-Rita, a new summer seasonal flavor joining the Rita brand. As consumer demand for convenient cocktail solutions and more delicious flavor variants in the Rita family increases, Bud Light continues to demonstrate the unique ability to introduce new, great tasting and flavorful drinks to a broader audience of beer drinkers. Bud Light Lime Lemon-Ade-Rita is a lemonade margarita-flavored alcohol beverage with a twist of Bud Light Lime that is ready-to-drink with just one pour and best served over ice.

Lemon-Ade-Rita is perfectly positioned to provide consumers with a new taste sensation and joins the Rita portfolio including permanent flavors Lime-A-Rita, Mang-O-Rita, Raz-Ber-Rita, Straw-Ber-Rita and seasonal flavors Apple-Rita and Cran-Brr-Rita. The Bud Light Lime Rita family, named a Nielsen Breakthrough Innovation Winner in 2014, makes up more than one-third of the FMB (flavored malt beverage) category. Since the launch of Lime-A-Rita in 2012, the Rita brand’s four core flavors claim the top four spots in the FMB category. The new Lemon-Ade-Rita naturally aligns with Bud Light’s fun and social positioning and is an ideal choice for parties and outdoor refreshment, especially as the weather gets warmer.

“In just a few years since the brand’s launch, the introduction of Rita flavors has been immensely successful among consumers, both through new permanent and seasonal variants,” said Alexander Lambrecht, vice president, Bud Light. “With the widespread popularity of our winter seasonal, Cran-Brrr-Rita, we saw that consumers have found drinking and entertaining occasions for Ritas throughout the entire year. We anticipate Lemon-Ade-Rita to continue to extend the seasonality of the Rita portfolio and reinforce the brand’s stake in the summer season.”

Chivas Regal Spices Up U.S. Scotch Market with Introduction of Chivas Regal Extra

Chivas Regal®, the world’s first luxury whisky, today announced the introduction of its newest blend to hit U.S. markets in eight years – Chivas Regal Extra. Chivas Regal Extra is one of the richest, most generous tasting blends within the Scotch category, created by using some of the rarest House whiskies that have matured in Oloroso sherry casks. Currently available in select U.S. markets including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, Northern California and Texas, Chivas Extra will be expanding to the rest of the U.S. later in 2015.

Chivas Regal Extra takes its inspiration from founding brothers James and John Chivas, who pioneered and excelled in the art of blending whiskies in the 19th Century. Colin Scott, Chivas Regal Master Blender, has been blending whisky for 25 years and has created a unique and outstanding blended Scotch using some of the rarest malt whiskies from the Chivas inventory.

“The rich and generous taste of Chivas Regal Extra has been created by using some of our rarest whiskies that have matured in Oloroso sherry casks. The mark of its quality lies in its rich and generous taste,” said Scott. The new blend has a fruity, sweet nose with notes of ripe pears, creamy toffee and a hint of ginger. The ripe pears continue on the palate, with sweet tropical flavors of melons and soft notes of vanilla and caramel, blending with spicy notes of cinnamon and hints of almonds.

“Chivas Regal Extra brings together the renowned smoothness of the Chivas house style, using Strathisla Single Malt at the heart of the blend, with a fuller taste profile coming from a higher proportion of malts matured in sherry casks,” said Laurent Cutier, Scotch Brand Director at Pernod Ricard. “The U.S. launch of Chivas Regal Extra marks a milestone for Chivas Regal and we are dedicated to continuing to bring innovative and quality tastes to our U.S. consumers,” Cutier added.

Angry Orchard Launches Newest Hard Cider: Hop’n Mad Apple

Angry Orchard-Hopn MadToday, Angry Orchard announced the national release of its first-ever hopped hard cider, Angry Orchard Hop’n Mad Apple. The cider makers drew inspiration for this new cider from a traditional craft beer ingredient – hops – to develop a cider that combines subtle floral and tropical fruit notes from Strisselspalt and Galaxy hops with bright, fresh apple flavor from American apples. First launched in 2012, Angry Orchard is the number one selling hard cider in the US, where hard cider has seen explosive growth and is showing up on more menus than ever as a refreshing alternative to craft beer and wine.

The cider makers at Angry Orchard experimented with a variety of hops when crafting the recipe for Hop’n Mad Apple and ultimately chose a blend of Strisselspalt and Galaxy hops for their unique flavor profiles. The hops complement the cider’s bright apple aroma, allowing the fruit to shine through. Strisselspalt hops, from France, are subdued and contribute subtle citrus, herbal and floral notes to the cider. Galaxy hops are found in Australia and contribute bright, juicy tropical notes like pineapple and mango. These hops are added to the cider post-fermentation, a process known in the brewing world as “dry hopping,” to give the cider a fresh hop aroma and a pleasant dry finish without any bitterness.

“You might say we’re obsessed with ingredients; we have been experimenting with cider recipes for nearly twenty years, searching the world for the best cider apples and playing around with other special ingredients,” said David Sipes, cider maker for Angry Orchard. “Hops are traditionally used in beer, but we found they work really well in our Angry Orchard hard cider too. With Hop’n Mad Apple, the subtle floral and tropical fruit notes of the hops accentuate the cider’s fresh apple sweetness and give the cider a nice, dry finish.”

Hop’n Mad Apple, along with Green Apple and Angry Orchard’s fall/winter seasonal, Cinnful Apple, are made with American culinary apples including Gala, Fuji, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Granny Smith apples. The cider makers at Angry Orchard are constantly working to perfect and innovate the craft of cider making, and through their experimentation have found that certain regions within the United States, such as the Pacific Northwest and the Northeast, share characteristics – rich soil and ample sunshine – with apple-growing regions in Europe that are known to produce apples conducive to cider making. For the new Hop’n Mad Apple cider style, the slightly less tannic juice of culinary apples from Washington State was found to best accompany the Strisselspalt and Galaxy hops.

Angry Orchard Hop’n Mad Apple (5.0% ABV) is now available nationwide in 6-packs, for a suggested retail price of $7.99-$9.99 (price varies per market). The hopped cider will also be available on draft in select markets. Like all Angry Orchard hard ciders, Hop’n Mad Apple is gluten-free.
